Life Is Fiction

On the page is a tongue
wagging with a tail,
elated whimpers sung,
smiles without fail.
Off their hopping hind legs,
a focus so true,
paws extending for begs
of an end to blue.

On the page is a gaze,
an adoring stare,
as the animals play
amongst maidens fair.
Off the back of the knight
they ebb and they flow
as true love at first sight
is this troupe in whole.

On the page is a squeeze,
a homely embrace
with a caressing tease
for a wanting face.
Off to maidens in bed
humming them to sleep
‘fore the lovebirds are led
to a kiss so deep.

A fairy tale they net
even when they lose.
Life is not what they get
it is what they choose.
Off the page, don’t you know
is what you see fit?
On the page it will go,
life’s story you knit.
