Only Waking Dreams Make Sense

These emotions commonly referred to as ‘negative’
won’t be smiled away or wished away or ignored away.
They represent a balance within us. To not acknowledge
what is felt – to not give it a season in which
to be known – is to hold a conscious disruption
in such balance.
The unconscious mind,
on the other hand,
feels freely.
This is why the conscious part of our selves, the part
that represses what it does not wish to feel,
has so much difficulty in figuring out how
the unconscious works. This is also why, when we sleep,
and the unconscious
is allowed to roam,
its dreams are grounded
in emotions,
even the ‘negative.’
The unconscious recognizes
their importance.
Thankfully, so do we.
…at times.
