31-Day Poem: Day Twenty-Seven

But Not All Is What It Seems

There is so much about her
that changes who I am.
There is someone else I want to be.

I want to be the perfect-fitting piece
to the puzzle she’s unable to solve.
I want to be the person whose hand
her hand seeks.
I want to be the one who adores her
simply as she is, because she is.

But I can’t,
as her joyous stride snakes her past me.
There is someone else I want to be.
